The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now released the lineup of commentators for the summit match in addition to the announcement of match officials. On June 7 at The Oval in London, the much awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final is scheduled to begin.
During the WTC Final, well-known individuals like Sunil Gavaskar, Matthew Hayden, and Ravi Shastri will be among the English commentators offering their perspectives and analysis. Notably, Dinesh Karthik has returned to the commentary booth following a subpar season as the wicketkeeper-batter for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the recently finished Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The 36-year-old, who is renowned for his alluring manner, has previously won recognition for his funny, snappy, and amazing one-liners.
Australia and India have both arrived in the UK, and the WTC Final is now well under way. With a 2-1 victory at home earlier this year, India defeated Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Due to their virtually full strength lineup, Australia enters the final as the favorite, while India are hindered by injuries. Due to a variety of injuries, players including Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul will not be participating in the championship match.
Along with the teams’ preparations, the ICC has also revealed the WTC Final prize money. The 2021–23 ICC World Test Championship champions will get a check for $1.6 million, and the runners-up will receive $800,000 as compensation for their accomplishments in the premier Test cricket competition.
